Cross Lanes

Cross Lanes is an eco-friendly centre on the A66 near to Barnard Castle which focuses on living in a sustainable way.  The site features a number of green credentials, one of which is the green (living) roof which Dufell installed for the Principle Contractor, Wharton Contruction.

The project involved installing a profiled metal sheet deck followed by a vapour control layer, insulation and a Soprema fleece backed single ply pvc membrane.  The roof was finished with Sky Garden sedum matting, substrate and meadow turf which included around 25 varieties of wild flower and grasses and now provides grazing for three hebridean sheep who have taken up lodgings on the roof.
