Reinforced Bitumen Membranes

Reinforced bitumen membrane roofing systems (built up felt) are sometimes seen as an outdated product, however, advances in product technologies have revolutionised the product, leading to guarantees of 25+ years, the largest of any system.

Dufell have led the way on specifying safe and robust waterproofing systems, with particular care and attention paid to fire risks and can assist you in getting the best waterproofing system for your roof.  

Reinforced bitumen membranes are now pre-bituminised and are applied using a gas torch or hot air welder rather than the old traditional method of “pour and roll” where the use of a tar boiler was necessary.  This has made the process cleaner, safer and far more time efficient. In fact, felt roofs can now be applied in a totally flame free environment and the manufacturers of these systems offers the same length of guarantee (up to 25 years) as any other felt system.  Our skilled tradesmen are approved installers for manufacturers such as IKO, SIG, Icopal and Bauder.

Single Ply PVC Membranes

Single ply PVC membranes are now the most popular roofing choice for large commercial/industrial buildings since they allow rapid, flame free application whilst still providing durability.   

Its neat finishes make it particularly popular with Architects, as it can also be used to mimic standing seam roofs without the structural weight of a typical standing seam roof.  We are increasingly seeing it specified for contemporary domestic buildings.

Our craftsmen have extensive experience in this area and have all undergone training and are approved by the leading manufacturuers such as Protan, Soprema, Bauder, SIG and Ruvitex. 

Green Roofs

Increasingly, we are seeing enquiries for Green Roofs and began installing these in 2007.

Green roofs are essentially a layer of sedum/grass installed on top of a pvc membrane roof. They offer environmental benefits such as reducing storm water run off, reducing heat loss and absorbing carbon dioxide but also offer aesthetic benefits by softening the visual impact of a building.

Liquid Plastic Roofs

Liquid Plastic roof coverings are now becoming widely used and recognised within the roofing industry. They provide a seamless solution for waterproofing and protecting roof structures and materials. These roof coatings will give long-term protection to a wide variety of roofing materials, including felt, asphalt, asbestos, cement and metal surfaces.

Because the roof coatings are liquid, they are completely seamless and when prepared and applied to the product’s instructions they are guaranteed to waterproof, protect and enhance most flat or pitched roofs.
