City Campus East

City Campus East was built on a former brownfield site by Sir Robert McAlpine for Northumbria University. Dufell installed approximately 8000m2 of insulation and IKO’s Mach One reinforced bitumen membrane system to the various different roof areas including numerous large plinths for the significant amounts of plant which was installed on the roof.

The project won a number of a awards for Sir Robert McAlpine including North East Landmark of the Year and Public Sector Award Winner at the 2007 Landmark Award, the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers Low Carbon New Build Project of the Year Award 2007, the Design & Innovation Award and the Sustainability Award at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Renaissance Awards 2008.
